Compliance Corner: 2009 Compliance Thoughts

As 2009 comes to an end, it would be very easy to focus on the negative aspects of this past year. I am constantly reminding compliance clients to look back and see how far they have brought their clinic and staff in making their practices better. Sometimes I think we all get caught up in the destination and we often overlook the journey.

We have become such an instant gratification society where we demand immediate results. Maybe the changes are there, but you are not aware, that is why this time of year is perfect for the end of 2009 office meeting in which everyone shares their perspectives on the progress made in your office.

The viewpoints of your staff can be eye opening and provide revelations that you as the doctor may never have imagined, and as cliché as this may sound, we really do need to stop and smell roses every now and then.
