2017 ICD-10 Revisions are Here!
ICD-10 code changes have been released for the 2017 fiscal year. Genius is making your update to the 2017 codes push-button easy! But... First you have to update your eTHOMAS program.
Genius made updates to the ICD-10 master list. You will be able to import diagnosis codes directly from this list. To obtain the new master list, you will need to update your eTHOMAS. The version that contains these updates is 9.5.21.
If you would like to be an early adopter, you can call support this next week, and they will get you updated and started. After Sept. 19th you may do a regular THOMAS update to receive the same final 9.5.21 version, and will not have to call support.
For 2017, there are 1,974 additional diagnosis codes, 311 deleted codes, and 425 revised codes. The coding changes are to be used on claims with dates of service from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. To view a complete list of changes visit for professional claims you can view them HERE.
After your update is complete, you'll have the ability to see changes to your codes that were previously imported. Under the Utilities Tab >Maintenance>Check Dx Codes will provide you with a list of codes that are loaded into your THOMAS program, that no longer match the master list. This will allow you to update the new revisions and deletions from the previous code set.
You will also have the ability to go to Code Files>Procedures>Diagnosis and choose the import feature. Under the "Select For" drop down, you will notice a new category under each breakdown, with (2017) in front of the description. These breakdowns include only the newly added codes for the 2017 fiscal year.

Microsoft Security Essentials Causing eTHOMAS Issues
It appears that Microsoft did some updating and it is causing many of you problems. Clients running Microsoft Security Essentials might have your eTHOMAS icon missing or you are getting a message when trying to start eTHOMAS saying "Can't Run eTHOMAS". The problems seems to be that MS Security Essentials is quarantining your program as a virus. The support lines are being swamped. To get back up and running we have created a step-by-step document for you that will allow you to exclude eTHOMAS' eclient from the antivirus program.
Download the pdf here.
If you are still having problems after, please call in and we'll get to you as soon as possible.

Possible Writepad Fee Slip Issue
IF you are currently having a problem with the fee slip in Writepad transferring your billing code information over to eTHOMAS, Writepad is aware of the issue and is working on it.
Per Writepad, you can work around this, for now, by turning the automatic fee slip option off and manually sending for the codes to go in the
ICD10 box. Because you are completing out the note in Writepad, there should be no "double sending" of charges once you can automatically send again.
Genius Solutions eTHOMAS October 1st instructions for ICD-10
First
You should complete as much of your ICD-9 posting as soon as possible. This means all dates of service BEFORE today (October 1, 2015) should be entered and billed out in ICD-9. You will need to use the new ICD-10 codes for all of your billing with a date of today (Oct 1st), and moving forward.Next
Once you've billed all of your ICD-9 claims out, and are ready to make ICD-10 the default setting for posting claims in eTHOMAS, you need to turn on the ICD-10 setting in eTHOMAS, which is called ICD10DEFAULT, then you can start entering your new claims using the ICD-10 diagnoses.9/14/15

eTHOMAS is ready for ICD-10 Now!
eTHOMAS is ready for ICD-10 today (if you are on a current version)!
We've been successfully ICD-10 testing with various clearinghouses for a while, and will continue to do so. However Genius Solutions recommends that you wait to import any new ICD-10 codes into THOMAS until April - because if there are going to be any announcements of changes to the codes or delays, it will most likely happen after the first quarter, when Medicare reviews their budget.
We'll have new ICD-10 webinars coming to you around May. Look for e-mails from us and periodically check the website for new ICD-10 dates and information.

"Error" in eTHOMAS for ICD-10?
If you are receiving a message in eTHOMAS when posting charges or payments regarding ICD-10, you can disregard it. This message was programmed into THOMAS when the ICD-10 deadline was still October 1st, 2014. The new ICD-10 deadline is now October 1st, 2015. To remove the reminder to bill out in ICD-10, you will need to autoupdate your eTHOMAS software. You must be on version 9.4.06 or higher. (You can check for your version of eTHOMAS in the upper right corner, under the "E", when the program is open.)
